The road is open

On my way to work I pass a place where they're building a new house estate.  The other day the road through the estate was open for the first time.  At work someone said they felt that 'the road is open' was a word from God for someone.  Over the following few days, I felt God was reminding me that the road to Him is open.  He sent His son Jesus to open that road. However, I let so many different things block me from taking that road.  With me it is often a sense of unworthiness or shame over my lack of love for God that makes me feel like I might not be welcome.

Then one evening my son got himself in a real state about his homework and ended up walking out the front door and sitting on the front step with his coat over his head.  I came outside and crouched beside him.  I just kept saying 'I love you.  Please come inside' and praying in tongues for him.  As I crouched there, I was just longing for him to come back in the house, to let me hug him and help him.   It struck me that this is what God is like.  He says, "I love you. Please come inside.  The road to me is open."

I don't know what is holding you back from coming to God today, but He loves you as His own child.  He longs for you to come to Him.  The road is open.
